Sacred Games is the new ‘it’ thing in India, all thanks to the streaming service giant Netflix. And from what we understand this is the very first in a long line of upcoming web-shows. ‘Sexy Durga’ fame actress Rajshri Deshpande plays an important role in the series and is winning praises for her character.

The story of the show is based on Vikram Chandra’s book by the same name. It explores the journey of a police officer chasing a gangster who has been out of police’s reach.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the character of gangster Ganesh Gaitonde, and Rajshri Deshpande plays his on-screen wife.

The series demanded Rajshri to do a topless nude lovemaking scene with Nawaz’s character. And while the actress has earned critical acclaim for her role, there is a harsh flipside to the whole situation.

Recently in an interview with SpotboyE, the actress opened up about how the scene has been twisted. People have taken things out of context and created adult memes.

When asked if she was awkward while filming the scenes, this is what Rajshri Deshpande said:

“Nope. Of course, real sex is not happening. But enough camera cheating, these are times of real cinema. In Sacred Games too, we have a lovemaking scene. It was a big thing for me to open up my blouse, but I did it. But little did I know that my pictures from that scene will start circulating on WhatsApp. Collages have been made saying: Hot Indian Actress With Mangalsutra! And, the scene has made way to porn sites. Worse still, I am getting messages saying that I am a porn star.”

The actress faced similar difficulties and stereotypical thinking back when she played the character of ‘Durga’ in the Tamil-indie movie ‘Sexy Durga’. It is surprising and disheartening to know that in India nudity is still considered obscene instead of being considered as a serious art.
