It is reported that Home Minister Rajnath Singh hugged Border Security Force (BSF) constable Godhraj Meena and broke protocol while presenting him with a gallantry medal. After being hit by bullets, during an attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur in 2014, the constable suffered from 85 percent disability.
The constable was on guard duty on the bus, and his bravery and acute presence of mind kept the two militants at bay and thwarted their attempts to enter and target the 30 personnel on board, the citation of the 44-year-old trooper revealed.
Meena, cannot speak properly as a bullet completely pierced through his jaw. Rajnath Singh presented him with the medal, as the constable received a huge round of applause, the Home Minister hugged and patted him and saw him off the dais with a firm and long handshake.
Meena has now been shifted to conduct administrative duties. A total of four BSF personnel, including Meena, have been presented with medals.
The others included constable Subhendu Roy, driver Daljit Singh and constable Rocky who was awarded the ‘Shaurya Chakra’.
