Rajkummar Rao is a brilliant performer, and a multi-tasker too. From the current crop of actors in Bollywood, he is perhaps the only actor who can take the risk of doing almost half a dozen movies at one go and that too without compromising with his characters and performances. With each new movie of his, he brings out something fresh to the table and amazes the audience with his rivetingly sterling acts.
Last seen in filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s dark and gritty thriller Omerta (2018), the National Films Award-winning actor is now gearing himself up for the release of his next movie, titled Fanney Khan, which also stars seasoned actors Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Divya Dutta in lead roles.
Fanney Khan tells the story of a father who goes all out to fulfill the dreams of his daughter. Upon being asked who he believes is the Fanney Khan of his life, Rajkummar Rao reveals:
“Fanne Khan is somebody you look up to. Anybody who is just fighting to make their life better or fighting for others lives to be better, I think, is a Fanney Khan. I would say my mother was a Fanney Khan.”
Not only this but he also added:
“I would say Irrfan (Khan) sir is a Fanney Khan. Anil (Kapoor) sir is a Fanney Khan. I think everybody who is making a difference is Fanney Khan.”
Fanney Khan is poised to lock horns with not one, but two films on 3rd August – Karwaan and Mulk. Both films star popular actors and are highly awaited by the audience. While Karwaan is headlined by Irrfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Mithila Palkar, Mulk is toplined by powerful performers such as Rishi Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu.
Though box-office clashes are not new to actors, battling it out with two equally awaited films can scare anyone. But Rao is not perturbed at all. He wishes luck to the team of Karwaan and Mulk.
“We make so many films. It is bound to happen. You rarely get a solo release. If it was not these two films, I am sure, there would have been two other films. But it’s fine. I find them to be two different films. My good wishes are with all of them.”
Rajkummar Rao has reteamed with his Queen (2014) co-star Kangana Ranaut for Ekta Kapoor’s forthcoming production venture, Mental Hai Kya. About working with Kangana after four years, the actor says it’s amazing to work with her again and again.
“We are almost done with the shoot, actually. And I’m very excited about it. It’s a great story. Working with Kangana has always been amazing. It’s always amazing to be working with her again and again. We are doing another film called Imali with Anurag (Basu) sir. It’s always great to work with good actors as it helps your performance as well.”
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and directed by Atul Manjrekar, Fanney Khan releases on 3rd August. Watch the trailer here:
