With just a week left for release, the highly-anticipated movie is keeping the director on his toes. Rajkumar Hirani‘s movie ‘Sanju’ has a lot of expectations, as he’s the director of films like ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’. On Father’s Day (June 17) he tweeted this post with a reference to ‘Sanju‘:
It looks like another Rajkumar movie is in the news. It’s none other than ‘3 Idiots’, which propelled Rajkumar Hirani into the mainstream comedy.
Rajkumar Hirani‘s movie was based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel Five Point Someone. It’s unique script, quirky dialogues and fun songs made it one of the most loved films since 2009.
Rajkumar Hirani also added memorable characters like “Millimeter” which made a visible mark. Today, the child actor who played ‘Millimeter’ is grown up and done successful TV shows as well.
Also, how can one forget Phunsukh Wangdu from the movie. The character, played by Aamir Khan, is a real man who is an engineer and an innovator!
Here’s some good news for this movie’s fans! According to a report in DNA, Rajkumar Hirani, during of ‘Sanju‘ promotional interviews, revealed that he’s started working on the sequel already! The director’s vision was clear back then as well:
He’s penning the script with co-writer Abhijat Joshi. In 2016, Aamir Khan had also mentioned that a sequel to Rajkumar Hirani’s movie ‘3 Idiots‘ is a probability. Have a look at his hint:
Even though it’s been 10 years, one can’t forget how it totally rocked the Indian box office and also the Chinese box office.
The director is thrilled about the franchise, with its script only in its initial stage right now. After all, Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial became the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India, so he has to match up to that. He said:
“I definitely want to make a sequel to 3 Idiots. In fact, Abhijat [Joshi, writer] and I started writing something a few days ago. But it’s still in the initial stage and we will take a fair amount of time to develop the script.”
It’s also confirmed that ‘3 Idiots’ sequel will only take Rajkumar’s time after he finishes the third instalment of Munna Bhai 3, which he will resume work after ‘Sanju’.
One will have to see if the original cast of ‘3 Idiots’ remains on board or not. Meanwhile, ‘Sanju’ releases on June 30. What do you think of this good news? Tell us in the comments.
