That Subramanian Swamy always speaks against the Gandhi family is not a new thing. But if he praises a Gandhi family member, it definitely makes waves.
Swamy said that had Rajiv Gandhi become the prime minister once again, he would have built the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
“He had got the Ram temple (Babri masjid) unlocked and allowed the shilanyas (foundation laying) ceremony for the Ram temple,” he said addressing a seminar on ‘Why Shri Ram Temple at Ayodhya and How’ organised by the Maharashtra chapter of Virat Hindustan Sangam (VHS).
He claimed that the former prime minister had “upholding the concept of Ram Rajya” but unfortunately died before he could do much.
This praise of Rajiv Gandhi is noteworthy because Swamy is the man who has been giving sleepless nights to Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul with National Herald case.
He alleges that though Muslim leaders involved in the dispute agreed with his proposal on the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case but kept “mum” in court.
The former union minister said that over 40,000 temples have been demolished in India but he is not asking for their reconstruction.
“But there cannot be a compromise on three of them – Ram Janmabhoomi temple, Krishna temple in Mathura and Kashivishwanath,” he said.
Swamy claimed that if the permission is received from the Supreme Court, the temple would be built in three months.
Hindus would celebrate Ram Navami at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he claimed.
