Fondly called “Thalaivar” by his fans, Rajinikath held a fan-meet after a gap of 8 years at Raghavendra Mandapam in Chennai today. Rajinikanth’s fans have ever been keen on his entry into politics. The recent reports of Bhartiya Janta Party trying to convince him to enter mainstream politics have invoked even more curiosity among his fans about his interest in politics.

Putting all speculations to rest, Rajinikanth said that he does not have any political ambitions as of now and will consider taking a plunge into politics only “if it is God’s will”. God decides what we have to do in life. Right now, he wants me to be an actor and I’m fulfilling my responsibility. God willing, I will enter politics tomorrow. If I enter, I will be very truthful and will not entertain people who are in this to make money. I won’t work with such people.

He also called his short and temporary entry into politics in the year 1996 a “political accident”. Rajinikanth said,

I did a mistake by supporting a political alliance 21 years ago. It was a political accident. Since then, politicians have misused my name on several occasions. But I have to clarify, I’m not joining any party.

Rajinikanth also said that some political parties have used his name and have claimed having his support to fetch votes. Clarifying about having no association with any political party, he said,

They have associated my name with politics and some parties drag my name with money too. Some parties, for votes, even claimed I have supported them. That’s why I have clarified that I don’t support anyone. And nobody has my backing.

Thalaivar also confirmed that he will be starting the shoot of his upcoming film on May 28.

The idol of thousands, especially in the southern part of India, the actor advised his fans to take care of their family and not waste their lives indulging in smoking and alcoholism.
