Summer is not here yet but the simmering heat of the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh is already making leaders sweat. It was to lessen the heat (read counter BJP) that UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav decided to join hands with the Congress.

The UP Chief Minister can be called a fine leader. But many found his jugalbandi with Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi quite odd.

One huge reason is that unlike Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul Gandhi does not know what to speak and often gets trolled for reasons that can be called innocuous if he was not the leader of India’s oldest party.

Thus the ‘desire’ he expressed on Wednesday at a rally in Ghaziabad got the social media excited because he had handed them another opportunity at trolling him.

This is what he said:

In other words: “I want to see the day when the bed sheet bought by (Barack) Obama carries the label of ‘Made in Uttar Pradesh’.”

And that got Twitter-verse rolling:

The first phase of the seven phases polling in Uttar Pradesh will take place on February 11.
