South superstar Rajinikanth has turned 67 on December 12 and his fans went into a frenzy to wish him happiness and health in many different ways. While his fans celebrated online with common display pictures, on offline some displayed huge wall posters. However, for the third year in a row, Rajinikanth opted for a low-key birthday following Cyclone Ochki, in which nearly 500 Tamil fishermen are still missing and 40 people have died.

Among those who wished Rajinikanth was Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. He wished the superstar on his birthday through Twitter in a quirky manner.

Twitterati too came out with their replies:

The illustrious artist has been awarded the coveted Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016 for his contributions to the arts by the government. The Kabali actor was conferred with the “Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year” at the 45th International Film Festival of India (2014).

Rajinikanth, now one of the highest paid actors in Asia, started his career by acting in plays while working as a bus conductor in the Bangalore Transport Service. The latest buzz is that he will take a call on politics only after the December 18 results of the Gujarat polls are announced. The next year is going to be the most crucial year in his life as he has two biggies coming up for release back to back – 2 Point O on April 27 and Kaala on August 15.
