BJP And Congress Turned Twitter Into Battlefield Over Modi’s Pictures On The Day Of Pulwama Attack

Published on 22 February, 2019 at 3:50 pm By

The horror and sadness of Pulwama attack are still fresh in our minds. One of the biggest attacks since 2001, it claimed lives of over 40 jawans. The pictures that came out following the attack were absolutely heart wrenching. However, India is a country that shows unity during hard times. Hence, people from all walks of life are coming forward to help the families of the martyrs.

There are organizations who have decided to extend a percentage of their profit towards families those whose lives were taken during Pulwama attack. In other words, it won’t be wrong to say that people are trying to handle this situation with sensitivity.

The present ruling government too made promises of retaliation to give a proper response for this heinous attack. Multiple things are taking place at once to avenge the death of our fallen heroes.

Sadly, we have also seen a huge rise in fake news concerning the Pulwama attack. Different social media platforms and media houses are doing their best to ensure that the fake news doesn’t spread further. Amidst this, BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading fake news. Wondering what happened?

Rahul Gandhi tweeted some pictures of PM Narendra Modi with this caption:

पुलवामा में 40 जवानों की शहादत की खबर के तीन घंटे बाद भी ‘प्राइम टाइम मिनिस्टर’ फिल्म शूटिंग करते रहे। देश के दिल व शहीदों के घरों में दर्द का दरिया उमड़ा था और वे हँसते हुए दरिया में फोटोशूट पर थे।

(Even after knowing about the death of 40 jawans, “Prime Time Minister” decided to continue his shoot. The families of martyrs were grieving but he was busy smiling for the photoshoot.)

BJP soon countered the news from their official social media handle and accused Rahul of spreading fake news. This is what they posted:

Congress soon came to Rahul’s rescue with this tweet:

This exchange between BJP and Congress, however, sparked a war on social media. Naturally, the hashtag #PhotoShootSarkar started trending on Twitter.  Many came out in support of Rahul Gandhi and here are the comments:

However, there were others who slammed the opposition. Here are some of the tweets:

We feel that the political parties need to handle such an issue a little more sensitively. Instead of finding ways to condemn one another on social media, it would be helpful to decide the future course of action. What are your thoughts on Rahul Gandhi’s post about Narendra Modi’s whereabouts on the day of Pulwama attack?
