The account was hacked for almost 20 minutes, between 7:30 pm till 7:50 pm, in which the hackers posted a series of tweets promoting a channel called ‘telegram’, and changed PTI’s profile picture to that of their insignia.

The account was restored within minutes of PTI realizing what had happened, and they later even sent out a tweet admitting to the fact that they were indeed hacked.

In the past few months, Twitter accounts to many known Indian and International personalities have been hacked, including that of Rahul Gandhi, Burkha Dutt, Vijay Mallya and the Indian National Congress.

Notably, those hacks were done by a different group of hackers known as the “Legion”, who upon contact had said that they were planning to target even more significant names across the country.
