Priyanka and Deepika’s wedding dresses are the talk of Tinseltown right now. With the two leading actresses getting hitched just days apart from each other, Bollywood lovers and fashion lovers got a treat of their own. From mehndi to sangeet, and from multiple weddings and reception ceremonies to public appearances before and after the events, the actresses gave us much to go ‘aww’ over and talk about. Both the ‘IT’ couples became an instant hit and their nuptials took the excitement to another level.
Every girl dreams of her wedding day right from her teenage days. The inspiration for the D-day comes from fairy tales and more so from how their favorite star did it and what she wore on her special day. Here’s what Deepika wore for her mehndi function. The dimply actress decided to ditch the much in-trend fusion outfits and instead opted for a more royal look. She donned a blush pink lehenga designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The saree featured detailed thread work and she paired it with a matching half tucked dupatta on the head and a red shawl for adding some contrasting and eye-catching color.
Opposed to Deepika opting for a saree, PeeCee chose to wear a ghagra choli in bright colored yellow, green and pink. This colorful and flowy outfit was designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. In the designers’ own words, the “fabulously folksy, multi-hued organdy ensemble” was “inspired by a vintage AJSK collection.”

Both the leading ladies got married to their Mr. Right by two ceremonies. Where Deepika Padukone had a Sindhi as well as Konkani wedding, Priyanka Chopra had a Catholic and a Hindu wedding.
Here’s a look at Deepika’s Sindhi Wedding look and outfit. She looked no less than a royalty, exuding the old-world charm in a beautiful gota patti lehenga. She added a bit of personalization through the duppata which ‘Sada Saubhagyawati Bhava’ on the border.
Where that was all colorful and all sorts of beautiful, Priyanka, in her white wedding dress was a vision to behold. Her wedding gown was designed by iconic designer Ralph Lauren. What makes the gown even more special is the fact that the ace designer has designed only three wedding dresses in the past 50 years. The breathtakingly beautiful dress featured floral and scroll motifs and it was hand-beaded and hand-embroidered. The lace-effect tulle appliqués, scalloped sleeves and a high-neck collar completed the over-all fairy-like look of PeeCee. The embroidery on the gown is said to have taken 1,826 hours to complete. The strapless column dress underneath the gown was made up of 23,80,000 mother of pearl sequins. The stunning 75-feet long tulle veil instantly became a buzz and is still a hot topic of discussions among fashion lovers. Priyanka further added a personalized touch to the gown by adding hand-stitched words and phrases which including Nick’s full name (Nicholas Jerry Jonas), their wedding date, and her parents’ names (Madhu and Ashok).
There was also a piece of lace from mother-in-law Denise’s wedding dress woven into the detailed white gown.
For her Konkani wedding, Deepika wore a minimalistic red and golden silk saree. This was a gift to her from her mother Ujjala Padukone. The saree came from a Bengaluru based brand Angadi Galleria, but it was modified a little by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Our desi girl went full desi in her Hindu wedding and took our breaths away in all red. It was a custom-made red Sabyasachi lehenga, which the designer says took 110 embroiderers from Calcutta a total of 3,720 hours to create.
Deepika had Ranveer hosted three receptions in all, while Priyanka had one reception after her wedding to Nick Jonas.
For her first reception in Banaglore, Deepika donned a gorgeous golden saree gifted by her mother from the House of Angadi.
For her reception, Priyanka donned a custom Falguni and Shane Peacock beaded outfit which was a champagne-hued shade. The lehenga is said to have taken 80 craftsmen, 12,000 man hours and millions of crystals to complete.
Deepika’s third wedding reception, which was held in Bombay for all B-town people, saw her going all sexy. She showed off her long legs in a red gown designed by Zuhair Murad. The long trail and the side slit added the glam and oomph quotient to her look.
The second wedding reception of DeepVeer saw Deepika carrying off an outfit which was inspired by Pakistani brides. It featured a long veil on the head with chikankari details. The designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla chose a chikankari ivory and gold saree with a long dupatta on the head for her.
