Bollywood’s beloved Chandni, late Sridevi, will be laid to rest forever today amidst sobbing hearts and inconsolable family and friends. The veteran actress who was Indian cinema’s first superstar, had led the Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada film industry for years before entering Bollywood. The actress left us with a heavy heart on February 24, after attending the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah. Her last post on Instagram with her family will never be forgotten.
The actress who had a career spanning five decades, not only inspired the older generation, but also the young girls who wanted to be like her. Sridevi’s impeccable comic timing, big expressive eyes and effortless dance moves, were idealised by every girl. It’s no wonder why India’s latest “National Crush” Priya Prakash Varrier is also her biggest fan.
After skipping every guy’s heartbeat with her playful wink and expressions in a song from her upcoming film Oru Adaar Love, Malayalam actress Priya, posted a tribute on her behalf to express her grief over the demise of her favourite actress.
The south Indian actress looks starkly different from her first public image and is seen in a sober mood while singing a song in her tribute.
In the video posted by one of her fan clubs (she has many), the 18-year-old Priya sings the soulful ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ song from Karan Johar’s film by the same name. Dressed casually in a yellow sleeveless top, green skirt and a casual bedroom setting, Priya’s heartfelt singing has touched many hearts.
The video’s caption says ‘History never really says goodbye. History says, ‘See you later.’ The song which had touched millions of hearts, seems like the perfect tribute to the legend.
Here’s Priya adding her voice to India’s collective sorrow with this classic song:

Incidentally, Sridevi’s elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor, is all set to make her Bollywood debut with a Karan Johar film, Dhadak, starring another newcomer Ishan Khattar (Shahid Kapoor’s brother). However, Jhanvi’s mother won’t be able to see the debut of her daughter.
As we speak, the mortal remains of Sridevi have been kept at Celebration Sports Club, for family, friends and fans to pay their last respects. Her funeral will take place at 3:30PM in Mumbai. May her soul rest in peace.
