Virender Sehwag is one of the most celebrated batsmen of India, and even after his retirement, his fans mention his aggressive batting and often miss it. Sehwag has been the chief mentor of Preity Zinta’s IPL team, Kings XI Punjab, and the team has been performing well in the current season. However, after Kings XI Punjab failed to chase a target of 158 runs against Rajasthan Royals, Preity lost her cool and lashed out at Nawab of Najafgarh.
Mumbai Mirror, in their article, said that even before the players could retire to the changing room, Preity approached Sehwag and questioned him about his game strategy. Reportedly, she was angry with Sehwag’s decision of placing Ravichandran Ashwin 3rd in the batting line.
“Against Rajasthan Royals, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was sent in at No 3, ahead of more accomplished batsmen such as Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwari. The move backfired as Ashwin fell for a duck, and Preity launched into Sehwag for the decision.”
They said that Sehwag got so annoyed that he initially decided to quit his association with Kings XI Punjab.
“Viru had told the other owners to rein in Preity. He told the owners that he’ll not comment on Preity’s acting chops and she should refrain from talking about his cricketing acumen.”
However, amidst all this, Preity Zinta took it to Twitter to clear the air on the matter and denied any altercation with Virendra Sehwag. In her tweet, she slammed Mumbai Mirror for spreading fake stories. She said:
“Mumbai Mirror gets it wrong again because we didn’t do Media net & pay them to write articles cuz that’s the only time they get it right. A conversation between Viru & me has been blown out of proportion & suddenly I’m a Villian ! Wow ! #fakenews”
