The tensed relations between India and Pakistan have been known to the entire world. A major reason for this is attributed to state sponsored acts of terrorism and violence from across the border. The ongoing war between Pakistan-sponsored terrorists of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and the Indian Security Forces (SF) has intensified further with cases emerging of inhumane killings of J&K policemen. As compared to previous four years, cross-border infiltration bids by jihadists from Pakistan continue and civilian casualties in Kashmir from terrorist violence have been the highest in 2017.
Slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani also played a major role in escalating terrorist activities in the Valley as he played quite an active role in the recruitment of local youth for carrying out terrorist activities. Wani was killed in an encounter by the Indian security forces on July 8, 2016.
There was a massive unrest in the valley on the day following the killing of Burhan Wani. The Center had to send as many as 1200 paramilitary personnel to Kashmir to control the mob post Wani’s death. As per reports, as many as 30,000 people turned up at his funeral.
Moreover, in social media there were many who were divided in their opinion over his killing. While few hailed him as a ‘hero,’ many condemned him as a terrorist.
Pakistan, on the other hand, has made several attempts to glorify Burhan Wani as a martyr. Days after his death, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif declared him as a ‘martyr’. In August 2016, India’s neighbouring country also put up Wani’s posters on the walls of ‘Azadi Express’ train.
It has been about two years that Wani was killed but it looks like Pakistan hasn’t still forgotten him and has found a new way to glorify him. Pakistan has now released a series of commemorative postal stamps of Burhan Wani and referred to him as a freedom fighter in those stamps.
Priced at Rs 8 each, the stamps were issued on Kashmir Martyrs Day on July 12 and were made available online on several websites. Twenty such stamps were released, commemorating Wani and other slain terrorists. Burhan Wani’s stamp bears the caption- Burhan Wani (1994-2016) freedom icon.
However, this got reported by the mainstream media two months after the release which coincided with India agreeing to participate in the foreign ministers’ talk with Pakistan. Consequently, the meeting was called off by the Indian government.
Meanwhile, Twitter is flooded with reactions on the whole issue of Pakistan launching Burhan Wani’s commemorative stamps and India declining the peace talks. Here are some of these reactions:
How do you expect this after the “brutal” killings of security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir as well as the release of postal stamps glorifying terrorists, including Burhan Wani. Will pak remain as a terrorist country “Now & Always” in world’s eyes?

Pakistan Post issued the #stamp glorifying #BurhanWani in July, but Pakistan state wire service #APP comes out abt the story now, at the same time #ImranKhan wrote a letter to #Modi. Should we blame #India for doubting #GHQ‘s puppet PM intentions?https://t.co/NvsaOBKzfU

Pakistan glorified Burhan Wani by releasing postal stamp portraying him as freedom fighter of “India occupied Kashmir”
Pakistan should keep thousands of such postal stamps ready, as we will be dispatching more and more Burhans soon. 👍

So who played who I wonder. IK writes a letter to Modi for resumption of peace talks, even offering peace talks. At the same time, the deep-state backed news agency suddenly reports on Burhan Wani stamps issued two months ago. Hindutvist bigots in Delhi take the bait. Slow clap.

And what sense does it make to issue a postage stamp featuring Burhan Wani and extending this invitation simultaneously? I’m not debating the goodness/badness of Wani, rather simply questioning the wisdom of #ImranKhan and his advisors who didn’t see the breakdown coming! #India https://t.co/501VEGlroC

Offered dialogue with terror act in Kashmir Valley? and by releasing Burhan wani’s postage stamp – where did great ImranK learnt his art of dialogue resumptions ? Its funny. China will never allow for a good India-Pak relation even if Pak wants it.
