A Muslim woman from Basarikpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Balia district was allegedly assaulted by her in-laws. Her crime? She made portraits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The woman was forced out of her house by the in-laws.
According to Purvanchal News, the woman hails from a nearby village called Maturi. The 24-year-old was married in November 2016.
Things were going well for her at her in-laws’ place. Then one day she decided to draw portraits of the PM and the CM.
According to the report, the woman showed the portraits to her husband. Enraged, her husband and her in-laws allegedly assaulted her.
The woman then called her father, who was told by the in-laws that his daughter cannot stay in the family. Upon inquiry the father was told that the woman’s crime was drawing the portraits.
A complaint was registered against the in-laws by the father of the woman. When the woman learnt that her husband is planning a second marriage, she went back to her in-laws’ place. She was allegedly assaulted again.
The police is now looking into the matter.
