On World Mental Health Day on October 10, Pooja Bhatt was present at a related event to watch award-winning film ‘The Valley’. On the occasion, the yesteryear actress spoke to the media about ‘Sadak 2’, the sequel of the 1991-film ‘Sadak’. She also revealed that the film starring Sanjay Dutt will deal with the issue of depression.
‘Sadak’ was a romantic-thriller film directed by Mahesh Bhatt. It had Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles and was a story of a young man who falls for a sex worker. The hero (played by a young Sanjay Dutt) fights all odds to be with his love (played by Pooja Bhatt).
At the World Mental Health Day event, Pooja Bhatt addressed the media about the sequel and a number of other things. The Times of India quotes her saying:
“We are making ‘Sadak 2’ in which we are showing Sanjay Dutt in his true and present time (Sanjay Dutt is drug abuse survivor). So we are dealing with issue of depression in that film but we are making a commercial film. We have to make our point and we chose film as our medium because when you choose a mainstream format then your message goes deeper and wider.”
Talking about the recent progression in Bollywood, she said:
“Audience has been always smart. We, who call ourselves experts of the industry, supposedly underestimate the audience and say that they are not ready to see issue-based films. Today, there is no issue with the audience and filmmaker but I feel now film-making has become a game of marketing.”
Commenting on ‘The Valley’, a film that addresses the issue of mental health and depression, which she explored at the event, Puja said that the film will surely bring some kind of awareness about mental health and went on to congratulate Saila Kariat, the director of the film.
