Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken serious note of the matter of BJP MPs who went absent during a crucial bill in the Rajya Sabha.
According to TOI, the PM has put members of the BJP on a notice on Thursday warning them about such transgressions in the future.
It should be noted that on July 31, 31 NDA MPs were absent resulting in the passage of The Constitution (123rd Amendment) Bill, 2017 without a particular clause sought by the ruling party regarding granting constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
According to reports, the PM has warned the members that now it would be their performance and attendance in the Houses which will decide their renomination in the 2019 General Elections.
The PM has reportedly told members that their days of “mauj masti” (fun and games) are now over because party chief Amit Shah will be in the Rajya Sabha.
PM Modi is believed to have told the members sternly that the party is above everyone.
“Aap apni marzi ki karte rahiye, mujhe jo karna hai, 2019 mein karoonga. (You do at your will, and I will act accordingly in 2019),” TOI quotes Modi as saying.
