Urging everyone to spread transparency in public life, recently, PM asked people to donate Rs 1000 to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) through Narendra Modi app. He even donated Rs 1000 through the app. And not only the prime minister, but even other senior party leaders also made donations towards the party fund using the app. Modi’s fund collection idea comes a few days after the Aam Aadmi Party launched a campaign to gather funds by going door-to-door.
As per a report by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW), the saffron party received Rs 532.27 crore as a donation during the financial year 2016-17, a 593 per cent increase compared to previous fiscal (2015-16).
Here is what the prime minister tweeted:
Contributed to @BJP4India, via the ‘Narendra Modi Mobile App.’
I urge you all to contribute to the Party through the App and spread the message of transparency in public life. pic.twitter.com/5NwwDzC2BA

Just like PM Modi, BJP president Amit Shah too donated Rs 1,000 to the party through the app.
As a BJP karyakarta myself, I have donated an amount of Rs 1,000 to the party through NM app. I appeal to all our karyakartas and well wishers to join the initiative for bringing in transparency in public life and donate using either NM app or at https://t.co/VILyxBFfdE. pic.twitter.com/J828UwsIq2

But as soon as the news reached on various social media platforms, people thought of the promise of Rs 15 lakh that PM Modi made during 2014 the Elections. Recently, answering an RTI query, the Prime Minister’s Office told Central Information Commission, that the campaign does not come under the RTI Act.
Soon Twitterati lashed out at the prime minister and said this:
मेरे 15 लाख में से 1,100/- रुपए पार्टी फंड में काट लीजिए ।

Prior to BJP, AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited households in the New Delhi area to collect donations and ask for votes for his party in next year’s parliamentary polls. The party’s donation camp is titled: “Aap Ka Daan, Rashtra Ka Nirman.”
