According to sources, a letter was seized by the Pune Police from the recently arrested human rights activist Rona Jacob Wilson’s house, the accused in the Bhima-Koregaon violence case. The letter was an intercept of communication between two Maoist leaders. It made some shocking revelations about a strategy to assassinate PM Narendra Modi in order to end the ‘Modi-raj’ in the country.

Later, it was also revealed that the Maoists were planning to assassinate PM Narendra Modi in a ‘Rajiv Gandhi type incident’. The news created an uproar in the country and people had all kinds of reactions to the news.

While PM Modi supporters are outrageously appalled by the news as they have expressed their anger on social media, there is a section of society that is speculating that assassination story can be a strategy to increase the vote bank of PM Narendra Modi and BJP.

Apparently, the opposition parties have been reacting skeptically to the news that the Maoists are plotting to assassinate PM Narendra Modi. Ex-MP and Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has expressed his doubts on the plot by saying that “it has been PM Modi’s old tactic”.

Yes! Where on one side CPI (Marxist) Chief Sitaram Yechury said that the Prime Minister will receive adequate security, Congress leader Nirupam says that it is a marketing strategy by PM Modi.

In his statement, Sanjay Nirupam said:

“I am not saying this is completely untrue but it has been PM Modi’s old tactic, since he was Chief Minister. Whenever his popularity declines, news of an assassination plot is planted.”

He later added, “So, it should be probed how much truth is in it this time.”

Here is an image of the letter that was released by the Police:

Interestingly, the reactions of the Twitterati are two-fold as they have a clash of opinions in the matter. While some of them are demanding PM Modi’s security to be increased, there is a group of people who are supporting the skepticism of the opposition and slamming PM Modi.

Take a look at some of the mixed responses:

The letter seemed to have been written in April 2017. Four other activists have also been arrested by the Police with Rona Jacob Wilson in the Bhima-Koregaon violence case.
