PM Modi Announces Rewards For Those Who Pay Via Digital Means

Published on 25 December, 2016 at 5:45 pm By

The Modi government is seriously pursuing its agenda of transforming the daily transactions of the people to a cashless one. Ever since the government scrapped the old Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency notes, nearly everyone in the country rode on a high-speed train from cash to digital payments.

There has been a rise in transactions using online payment methods, apps and cards instead of the usual cash. Yet one cannot say that it has been a smooth ride; those in the need of cash have had to wriggle their way into the banks in long, serpentine queues.

So with an eye on the bigger picture and to motivate the people to go digital, the government has decided to reward both the people and the traders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced two schemes: Lucky Grahak Yojana for consumers and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana for merchants.

The first one, Lucky Grahak Yojana, will provide a cashback of Rs.1000 to 15,000 consumers every day for the next 100 days.

The winners of the cashback will be chosen by a lucky draw on a daily and weekly basis. The weekly draw will have a reward of Rs.1 lakh and will given to seven winners.

The second scheme, Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojna, is for traders. Under this scheme, 7,000 merchants will get a weekly award award of Rs 50,000 each.

And the ‘gift’ starts rolling out from today itself.

PM Modi also announced that on April 14, 2017, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar a mega draw will be held where three winners from among consumers will get Rs.25 lakh, Rs.50 lakh and Rs.1 crore each.

Three winners from among merchants will get Rs.5 lakh, Rs.25 lakh and Rs.50 lakh each. For this draw, all transactions from November 8, 2016 to April 13, 2017 are included.
