Hollywood actor Pierce Brosnan, who in the past few weeks has come under fire for endorsing Pan Bahar, a “pan masala” brand, in a recent interview revealed that he was “deeply shocked and saddened” by the criticism.
He then added that the company has made “unauthorised and deceptive use” of his image to endorse its entire range of products when they had agreed for just one product.
While speaking to the People’s magazine, Brosnan revealed that he had agreed to advertise for just one product, and that too was presented to him as an “all-natural” product that contained ‘neither tobacco nor supari nor any other harmful ingredient’ in it.
The statement came on October 20 night, and manufacturers of Pan Bahar have yet not issued a response.
Brosnan, who is famous for portraying the role of James Bond in Hollywood movies, added that he has already demanded the company to remove his image from all their products.
He said that his contract only spoke about him advertising a “breath freshener tooth whitener” which wouldn’t include any ingredient that “turns saliva red”.
Brosnan said that he would never endorse any such product that causes health issues as he personally has seen what it can do.
“Having endured, in my own personal life, the loss of my first wife and daughter as well as numerous friends to cancer, I am fully committed to supporting women’s health care and research programs that improve human health and alleviate suffering.”
