Makar Sankranti is one of the most widespread Indian festivals. Building bonfires, feeding the cattle and the poor, making sweets and flying kites are all a part of the festivities. But amidst all the fun and hoohaa there is something that we conveniently forget. And a picture of a dead parrot that’s currently going viral on the internet reminds us of this. Don’t know what this is about? Well, it’s about how the manja we use in kite flying, is life-threatening for birds.
People throw little caution over using poor quality kite flying threads, because who cares about the birds. But this dead parrot will definitely make all of you think about what we can do to save them.
Before we proceed, it is only fair to let you know the picture is graphic of sorts. And is certainly heartbreaking. Now, here’s what happened. A Twitter user posted a picture of a dead parrot hanging on a tree with manja around his neck. Sounds extreme right? Well, have a look for yourself.

Nylon threads are dangerous, even for humans
Earlier it was used to be cotton threads. Which would decompose in about a few days. These days they are nylon threads. Which is dangerous and similar to plastic threats. Non bio degradable. There must be a ban on these kind of materials. It’s even dangerous for humans.

It is dishearting to note that people continue to use cheap Chinese nylon threads despite the ban on them. We need to realize that a few moments of fun for us is life threating for birds. And not just birds, the nylon threads are also dangerous of human beings.
