India Post’s Unique Initiative Lets You Get Your Own Photo On A Postal Stamp

Now, you can get your own photo on a postal stamp, specially customised for you.

Entitled as ‘My Stamp’, the scheme by Indian Postal department enables a person to personalise the postal stamp with his or someone else’s photograph.

And don’t worry about the cost!  The price for 12 personalised ‘My Stamp’ is just Rs. 300.

Senior Postmaster, Jalandhar City, K.P. Meena told AIR that one can choose from various sheets having different flowers to print the stamp. “We also seek a government identification card and a declaration from the individual to ensure that the information and the picture provided to us is genuine,” the top postal official said.

The scheme has been started to bring postal department closer to the masses.

“Philately is one of the core focus areas for the postal department and we have been looking at initiatives that take the postal department closer to the masses,” postal secretary SK Sinha told TOI.

The service is available at key post offices across major towns and cities. Also, the postal department has now decided to offer the service through their website http:www.epostoffice.gov.in.
