It has lately come to light that petrol pumps in Uttar Pradesh are duping customers, a series of raids by Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Lucknow made the revelation. Mostly customers only check the fuel dispensing machine for the amount and the quantity of the fuel filled in.
According to the reports staff at the petrol pumps have been using a remote-controlled electronic chip to cheat the customers.

1 – Inside the fuel dispensing machine, a chip is placed. This chip is specially designed to reduce the output of fuel by almost five to ten percent.
2 – Linked to a wire, the chip sets the limit through a remote control. So, if you are buying one liter of petrol, only 940 ml will be released by the machine.
3 – The cost of these chips are somewhere around Rs 3,000 per piece.
It has also been reported that almost 7 petrol pumps in Uttar Pradesh have been sealed. An officer involved in the investigations has revealed that petrol pumps have been making almost Rs 50,000 per day with the help of the installed chips.
After the conducted raids, chips, machines and remote controls have been recovered and later sealed.
