Considering you are earning a handsome salary by Indian standards, how much time will it take for you to create assets worth Rs 10 crore? Of Course, years! But, behold the ‘genius’ who accumulated assets worth crore on a salary of less than Rs 40,000 per month.
After the arrest of an office attendant working with the Andhra Pradesh transport department, it was revealed that he had amassed Rs 10 crore worth of property!
Media report identified the person as K Narasimha Reddy who got the attention of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officers after purchasing his 18th piece of land. The officers were tracking him after digitalization of land records.
An enthusiast of hand-crafted silver ornaments and artistic pieces ordered dozens of silver items weighing in total over seven kg. Also, he purchased a huge amount of gold ornaments. That’s when he first came under the radar of ACB officers.
This is not all! The officers who raided his house discovered documents of 18 plots, Rs 7.70 lakh cash, 2 kg gold ornaments, Rs 20 lakh in bank accounts, and LIC of over Rs 1 Cr. Like a cherry on the pie, his residence is a 3,300 square feet two-story penthouse.
ACB Director General (DG) RP Thakur conducting the investigation said:
“Though he got promotion several times, he refused to take them and preferred to remain as office attender for the last 34 years. Reddy possesses 18 house plots, 50.36 acres of agricultural land and one G+2 house in a posh locality in Nellore. All the properties were registered in his name and those of the members of his family. Most of the properties have been registered in the name of his wife K Hari Priya and his mother-in-law Pulion Narayanamma.”
He will be produced to special ACB court soon for proper hearing.
