5 Famous Bollywood Actors Who Set The Trend For Paternity Leave

June 17, 2018, is Father’s Day and it’s evident that dads play a critical role in the lives of their children. Right from forever, from animals to human beings, the mother nurtures the child and the father takes care of other aspects. And now, things have changed and more dads are taking paternity leave to be an active part of their children’s growth. Right from nappy changes, to singing lullaby to them, these dads are completely hands on and like how!

With this new change of parent-child relationship, fathers are also taking paternity leaves to bond more. Here’s a list of Bollywood actors who did the same when they became fathers:


1. Imran Khan

The 34-year-old Imran Khan was one of the first ‘ young dads’ of Bollywood when he and his wife Avantika Malik were expecting their first child, a baby girl. To pamper his expectant wife, Imran took Avantika for a baby moon in Europe and loaded her with gifts. He said,

“After marriage you go on a honeymoon, and before a baby is born you go on a babymoon, it is the last holiday before you have a child. It was very relaxing.”

2. Vivek Oberoi



Vivek Oberoi and Priyanka Alva are blessed with two children – son Vivaan and daughter Ameyaa. The Krissh actor was in fact, so excited with the arrival of his first born Vivaan (2013), that he took a paternity leave for almost a month! As revealed by him,

“I was like a coolie carrying so much of luggage. We bought maternity products, shopped for some cute stuff in, as we don’t know if the baby will be a boy or a girl. I am super excited to be a father.”


Vivek also took Priyanka for a baby moon (Europe and Bali). As a busy father that he is, his sweet captions while posting about his two angels, is totally setting examples!





3. Kunal Khemu

We all know the famous child actor from ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke‘, but today, Kunal Khemu is a grown-up father himself. Kunal became a dad when his gorgeous blue-eyed baby girl Inaaya Naumi Kemmu was born in 2017. Before Inaaya’s arrival, Kunal decided to take paternity leave. This is what he said:

“I really look forward to spending a significant amount of time with the baby. I have decided to take time out even though we are going to have a rigorous schedule during the promotions of the film (Golmaal 4).”

4. Shahid Kapoor

Shahid married Mira Rajput after a world wind romance in 2015 and Mira gave birth to their first born daughter Misha in 2016. Today, the couple is expecting their second child and Shahid is said to take a month-long paternity leave very soon. On this, a source revealed,

“Shahid’s wife is due in September, so he will take about a month’s break to be with his family, post which he will resume Arjun Reddy’s shoot.”


Even during Mira’s first pregnancy, Shahid always spent time with her and pampered her thoroughly. This is how the father-daughter duo spend quality time together:

This Nawab is a father to a gorgeous first child, a son called Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi who took the internet by storm with his blue eyes and chubby cheeks. Just like his cousin sister Soha Ali Khan’s daughter Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, Taimur is the apple of his parent’s eyes. Though Saif is always busy, he too, took a paternity leave for a month when Kareena Kapoor Khan was expecting.

Saif Ali Khan took paternity leave till mid-January when Taimur was born on December 20, 2016. He’s expected to resume shooting of his next film, tentatively titled ‘Chef’.
