There is no doubt that Baba Ramdev’s brand Patanjali has gained immense popularity in the consumer goods segment and has grown manifold in the past few years. Considering his success in the FMCG sector, it is possible to say that Baba Ramdev’s face value and his ambition of making all the products “Swadeshi” (indigenously produced) can work for many product segments in the market. With this objective, the Yoga Guru has come up with a new product.
Venturing into the telecom sector, Baba Ramdev has launched mobile SIM cards that offer hoards of benefits to the users and on the top of that, they are “Swadeshi”. Baba Ramdev has collaborated with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-owned telecommunication company and launched Patanjali SIM cards.
Called as Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards, these cards offer several benefits to the users. But for now, these cards and their benefits will be available only to Patanjali employees.
For now, the users of these cards will get unlimited calling, 2GB data, and 100 SMS per day for a recharge of Rs 144. The validity of this recharge hasn’t been revealed to the public yet, but it is expected to be around 28 to 30 days.
Over and above the telecom benefits, the users of these cards will also get a medical insurance cover of Rs 2.5 lakh and life insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh, both of which can be availed only in case of road accidents. Talking about the Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards, Sunil Garg, BSNL Chief General Manager said:
“Patanjali’s plan is BSNL’s best plan. In Rs 144, one can make unlimited calls from any part of the country. We are giving 2 GB data pack, 100 SMSs. The members of the Patanjali have to just show their identity and there SIM will be activated soon after some paperwork.”
