There are many cases and incidents where pet birds and animals have caused panic, and even harm, to their owners, neighbors and even the authority. While some happened to be true, many often turned up to be a false and hilarious one. Well, here is a similar incident in which a pet parrot has hilariously fooled the firefighters in England’s Northamptonshire.
A team of firefighters from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service rushed to a home in Daventry after they received a report of the fire alarm going off. However, as they rushed to help thinking that there was some emergency, it turned out to be a false alarm caused by a parrot who ‘perfectly’ impersonated a smoke alarm.
It is said that although the beeping sounds of the smoke alarms were heard, there was no fire. But interestingly, after sometimes, they found out that it was Jazz – the parrot – perfectly mimicking the alarm.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, the agency that attended the emergency call, said:
“When we arrived at the property, the householder assured us there was no fire and we checked and cleaned the smoke alarms to try and prevent further activation. While we were doing this, we could still hear an alarm in the background and soon realized it was African Grey parrot Jazz continuing to do his excellent impression of a smoke alarm!”
It seems the incident brought a smile on the face of the first responders and the agency was happy that the owner and his pets were safe. The Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service also issued a statement in a tweet saying that it was a false alarm caused by a parrot impersonating the smoke alarm.

The BBC also shared a video of the amazing parrot on its official Twitter handle. Talking to BBC News, owner of the parrot, Steve Dockerty, said: “Jazz loves to imitate things and he imitated a smoke alarm so well, they called the fire brigade.”

Funniest thing in the year!
As unfortunate as it is that the fire brigade’s time was wasted due to this, it’s still the funniest thing I’ve read all year 😂😂 https://t.co/BaCK49MtNS
