A Pakistani journalist was killed after a car ran over him in Lahore on Friday afternoon.
Tanveer Rana, 39, was known for reporting on minorities in Pakistan and had attracted the attention of right-wing Islamists. It was reported that he was run over by a car when he was returning from Punjab Union of Journalists’ meeting.
His recent works on Freemasons, Jains and Ahmadis had been called blasphemous. Last week, when Rana and his family came back home in Lahore, they found their house vandalized and words like “Kafir” meaning infidel and “Worthy of Death” sprayed on the front door.
The police, so far, has refused to register both cases.
