Earlier this year, Pakistan was shocked by rape and murder of 7-year-old Zainab. Police found her body in a dumpster about a mile from her home in Kasur, a city in Punjab province. According to autopsy reports, Zainab had been raped multiple times. The parents of the girl have claimed that police “didn’t do anything” to find their daughter.
Now a similar shocking story is coming from Mardan, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan. Popular Pashto stage dancer Sumbul Khan was murdered by three gunmen in Pakistan because she refused to perform at party. The incident took place at the residence of the popular Pashto stage dancer in Sheikh Maltoon Town.
It has been reported that she had resisted abduction and was shot dead before her murderers fled the scene.
Pakistani media reports suggest that three alleged killers Naeem Khattak, Jehangir, and Naseeb Shah, entered Sumbul’s house and invited her for a program but when she refused, the alleged killer opened firing and killed her on the spot.
So far there has been no arrest made by the police and the law enforcement agencies are raiding whereabouts to arrest the suspects.
The 25-year-old performer was well known for her roles in several Pakistani TV shows.
There have been similar attacks on female artists in this part of the country in the past. In a similar incident in Lahore, theatre actress Kismat Baig was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Lahore. Baig was returning to her house after performing at a stage play when gunmen riding a car and a motorcycle intercepted her and opened fire at her.
