National Conference leader and former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah on Sunday hit out at Prime  Minister Narendra Modi alleging that he had forgotten to inform people of Bihar about his promise to “dismember Jammu and Kashmir” for votes in Ladakh which was assured the status of Union Territory by the BJP during the recent polls here.

Omar tweeted:

Omar was reacting after the results of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) elections were out, in which BJP marched to a thumping majority of 18 seats in the 26-member council.

Congress and National Conference have accused the BJP of making the grant of Union Territory status to Ladakh as its main agenda for the elections.

Omar also sarcastically tweeted on Modi’s visits abroad as part of his efforts to bring in foreign investment in view of media reports that electric car maker Tesla was in talks to produce cars in China, instead of India.

He tweeted:

Hitting out at critics, the saffron party said that they are not confined to two-and-a-half districts of Jammu, rather they now have a “strong -hold” in all three regions of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir.

In the elections, congress suffered worst defeat in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LA HDC) polls at the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party that secured 18 seats while Congress could manage to win just four seats.

LAHDC polls Congress had bagged 22 seats. BJP that had won Leh in the last parliamentary elections but lost both the assembly seats of Leh in the assembly elections.

National Conference managed to win only two seats while an independent candidate also bagged one seat. People’s Democratic Party however failed to open its account.
