Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on December 21 took to Twitter and slammed people for speaking ill of the name that actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan has chosen for their newborn baby.

Stating that people’s opinion on the Taimur’s name did not matter, Omar added that only parents get to decide what they name the baby.

He then went on to congratulate the new parents and wish the baby a very happy life, but was soon being slammed for voicing his opinion.

While some took Omar’s opinion in a sporting matter and tried to reason with him,

There were still many who slammed Omar for his comments and asked if naming their child Hitler or Laden also justified.

While we agree with Omar that only parents get to choose their baby’s name and no one else’s opinion should matter, we also see the point that naming a kid after a Mongolian invader who slaughtered thousands will give rise to criticism.

Further, Saif and Kareena seem to have forgotten that they are both celebrities and no matter what they name their kid, it will make the news and the child would always be in the limelight.

While it’s them who have named the kid, he is the one who has to live with it and face the consequences of being named after an invader famous for practising genocide.

People to need to stop thinking ill about a kid who just came into this world, and not automatically assume that he would turn out a certain way just because his parents gave him a certain name.
