The Army has given a clean chit to the officer who tied a stone pelter on his jeep in the valley. The Court of Inquiry was conducted on April 15, two days after an FIR was filed by the J&K police against the officer involved in the incident.
Major L Gogoi, the officer behind the act, has been provided a clean chit and his efforts and presence of mind were appreciated by the top Army brass.
A source commented,
Court martial is out of the question. Not even disciplinary action was recommended against the officer. He was congratulated for his acumen and presence of mind that saved many lives.
Contrary to the hue and cry created by several separatists and former ministers, senior officers commended the officer for his acumen and presence of mind which saved the lives of several security personnel. Senior officers also revealed that the incident was blown out of proportion.
Another source said,
n the Army, attaining the objective is more important. The means used by the officer could have been different, but the objective was perfectly met.
