When it comes to making world records, people challenge themselves to the extreme and many of them emerge victorious. India has never remained behind in making world records. There is a man from Odisha who has punched his way to setting a new world record.
On June 20, Satyapira Pradhan landed 393 single-handed punches in one minute. He broke the record of Pakistani martial arts student, Muhammad Rashid. A student of physiotherapy, Satyapira is now waiting for confirmation from the Guinness World Records team.
Satyapira, who hails from Bhawanipatna, in Kalahandi district of Odisha, said
I came across this typical record six months ago. Subsequently, I had applied to challenge the record. I got approval from Guinness World Records authorities to make attempts on June 5. After getting approval, I organised the event on Tuesday.
He further added,
A one-minute video was recorded while I kept punching with my right hand. Three separate attempts were made by me. Video of the last attempt was run in slow motion. We counted 398 punches. However, in five punches, we were not sure if I had delivered full-contact punch strikes. So we did not take those five punches into account.
We hope that he makes it to the Guinness World Records and takes India to another level of record setting.
