A cafe in Bhilai has broken all barriers and has employed differently-abled and transgender people.
Nukkad Tea-Cafe in the “Steel City” has transgender cooks and deaf and mute servers. P N Patel, the owner of the cafe, said that he has employed these people with an aim to provide them with jobs and empowerment.
There are three transgender cooks and seven differently-abled waiters in the cafe. The first such cafe was opened in 2013 in Raipur and became an instant hit. After its success, the institution opened another one in Bhilai which is also doing very well.
Patel also revealed that he contacts the associations for employees and once they clear the interview, they get trained. The employees are also responsible for the daily procurement of food items for the cafe and its cleanliness.
