The army never backs off from their duty and responsibility and it is because of this valour and unconditional service to the nation, that an ordinary man is able to live in peace. No surprise then that every year the government recognise and honor them. This year as well, the government is recognizing one such martyr. This Republic Day a terrorist turned army man would be awarded with an Ashok Chakra.
Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani was a terrorist turned army man. After remaining a terrorist for a few years, he later he joined the Indian army in 2004. He sacrificed his life for the nation on November 25, 2018.
This Republic Day, he will be awarded the highest peace time gallantry award, Ashok Chakra. The award will be presented to Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani’s wife Mahajabeen by President Ram Nath Kovind.
Martyr Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani lost his life while fighting against six terrorists in Hirapur village in the Kashmir Valley. In his battle with the terrorists, he killed the district commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and a foreign terrorist. Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani bravely faced the militants and amid this, he was hit by several bullets, of which one had hit his head.
The story of this terrorist turned army man is worth all the praise and appreciation. It shows that love for the nation is above everything.
