Muslim women in Varanasi have turned to Lord Hanuman to seek relief from the “evils” of triple talaaq.
On Wednesday, the Patalpuri Math in Varanasi organized a prayer session where Muslim women were invited to offer prayers and read the Hanuman Chalisa.
The Muslim Mahila Foundation began a campaign to raise awareness and eliminate the practice of triple talaaq. The members of the foundation remain determined despite several Imams issuing fatwas against women participating in this campaign.
The foundation’s national head, Naazneen Ansari, revealed that the Hanuman Chalisa was written to elevate humans from distress and despair. Around 50 Muslim women will be participating in the event to be held at 10 AM and will read the Hanuman Chalisa to seek relief from triple talaaq.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court is expected to begin hearings in the triple talaaq case.
