A group of Muslims belonging to the Muslim Kar Sevak group arrived in Ayodhya on Thursday evening with a truck of bricks to help in the construction of Ram Temple.

The members of this group were chanting “Jai Shri Ram” when they arrived and this act of theirs left everyone surprised. Given that the issue of Ram Mandir Vs Babri Masjid in Ayodhya has been a matter of dispute between Hindus and Muslims for more than two decades, this campaign by the Muslim group creates further confusion on their stance.

Azam Khan, the president of the Muslim Kar Sevak Manch said that they want to help with the construction of Ram Temple. Some members of the group had come from Basti, Lucknow and nearby areas. The police did not allow them to enter the site as Ram Lalla Temple was closed for the day. Reportedly, these people tried to contact members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad for safekeeping of the bricks they had brought.

Azam Khan had also hit the headlines in March for putting up banners in Lucknow in support of construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This had happened after the apex court had said that the issue was “sentimental and sensitive” and should be resolved by dialogue between parties instead of a settlement by court.

Since the time this information has been made public by ANI through twitter, there have been amazing responses from people. Check out some of these here:
