A mother of a 14-year old boy named Yogesh has alleged that her son was held hostage and was then lynched by some of his friends.
The mysterious case of murder in the national capital came to light when victim Yogesh Kumar’s body was found near New Delhi railway station last month.
His body was brought to the Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) on June 23. According to doctors, Yogesh’s entire body, including his face, had multiple marks of injuries which implied that he was pelted to death. After conducting an autopsy, doctors concluded that the injuries on Yogesh’s body indicated that he was attacked with a sharp object.
However, police, taking it is as a matter of communal conflict, did not make any comments on the matter.
According to the victim’s mother Seema, Yogesh was lynched by his Muslim friends who had also demanded a ransom of Rs. 10000 while they kept the boy hostage. Seema works as a domestic help and the family lives in Meet Nagar, Shahdara. In spite of being very young, Yogesh used to work to help his family financially for expenses of his mother’s treatment.
Mail Today quotes Seema saying,
On June 23, Yogesh left home after he got a call from his friend Arif. He, along with other friends, including a girl Fatima, first kidnapped my son, later demanding Rs 10,000 from me. I was told that if money was not given on time, they will kill my son. The very next morning, I was told that my son was killed and thrown somewhere along the railway track near New Delhi station.
As per the FIR that was lodged on the next day of incident, Yogesh’s body was found lying in a pool of blood. A stone, some bricks and broken pieces of glass bottles with traces of blood were also found.
