Man’s love for guns is an old affair. Even though guns are a lethal weapon and are considered as destructive tools, man has always been fascinated by it and finds the idea of keeping a gun alluring. There are a few firearms company which manufacture guns that are so expensive that only the extremely rich class can buy. Here is a list of the most expensive guns in the world.


1. Westley Richards 4-Bore Droplock Side by Side Double  70 lakh

Westley Richards has been producing shotguns for more than 200 years. The firearms company was created by William Westley Richards in 1812. He was a shooter himself. The guns of this brand are specifically designed for sporting purposes, including clay pigeons and hunting birds of all types. The delivery of gun takes about 30 months after the order is placed.


2. William & Son’s Sidelock – 78 lakh

William & Son was founded in 1999 by William Asprey. He was working at a gun room in Asprey when he decided to open the company with a team led by Paul West, an ex-Holland & Holland man. The gun is somewhat similar to Boss except for the coil spring which has been replaced by V-Springs. The company makes 12 guns in a year and the delivery time is 1 year approx.



 3. Holland & Holland Royal Side-by-Side Self Opener – 90 lakh

Holland & Holland was founded by Harris Holland in 1835. Holland’s Royal model was first launched in 1883 and it became an instant hit. The gun comes with a simple and sophisticated lock, ejectors and self-opening system. Holland & Holland is widely known for its side-lock feature that has been copied by almost all the gunmakers in the last 100 years. There is a waiting period of 2–3 years between ordering and delivery.


4. Holland & Holland Royal Over and Under – 95 lakh

Holland & Holland’s Over And Under series first hit the market in 1914. Since then, the company has launched two new versions of the gun. The gun is offered with double triggers or a non-selective, inertia-operated single trigger. It takes around 900 hours to manufacture it. The firm produces 75-80 guns in a year and the delivery time is around 30 months.


5. Purdey Side-by-Side – 1 crore 5 lakh

The Purdey-Beesley side-by-side hammerless self-opener is perhaps the most iconic shotgun of all. It was designed by gunmaker Frederick Beesley. Ejectors were added in the 1880s and, apart from developments in this area, the gun made today is virtually unchanged from that conceived by Beesley. The delivery time is about 18-24 months.


6. Greener Sidelock – 1 crore 20 lakh

W.W. Greener is a sporting shotgun and rifle manufacturer from England. The company produced its first firearm in 1829 and is still in business, with a fifth generation Greener serving on its board of directors. The gun uses Boss ejectors and locks and is among one of the most stylish guns ever produced. It is delivered in about 30 months.


7. Boss Over and Under – 1 crore 50 lakh

Boss & Co. is an English bespoke gunmaker established in 1812 by Thomas Boss in London. It has since been in the business of gun making. The brand name is enough to attract gun lovers from across the globe. One of the most sophisticated guns out there, Boss Over and Under is always in demand and not more than 18 guns are made annually. It takes 2-3 years to get delivered.


8. Purdey Over and Under – 1 crore 80 lakh

This expensive gun is created by Purdey which was founded in 1814. The gun is distinguished by a brilliant hinging system involving stud pins near the knuckle and bifurcated lumps (much copied by dozens of makers) and a unique tongue-and-groove lock mid-action. It is designed for high-speed shooting. Order them now and expect their delivery in a couple of years.


9. Fabbri Over and Under – 2 crore 28 lakh

Fabbri is an Italian gunmaker company founded by Ivo Fabbri in 1968. Fabbri makes just a handful of guns a year for such luminaries as Steven Spielberg, Tom Selleck and King Juan Carlos of Spain, among others. Other than being extremely rich, you also should have a hell lot of patience as it takes 4-5 years to get delivered.


10. Peter Hofer Sidelock – 4 crore 60 lakh

“Everybody says you can’t create a new gun. But that is not true. Every third gun we create is a new gun” – says Peter Hofer, maker of some of the world’s most exclusive, innovative and most expensive guns. Only 6 guns are produced each year by this company and all are unique in some sense. The delivery is done by negotiation depending on the type of gun. It took years of work to produce this gun and perhaps this is the reason it is listed as the most expensive gun.
