Moroccan authorities caused a blunder by displaying a map showing Pakistan and Afghanistan as part of India at a university where Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari was supposed to deliver a speech.
The hoardings had been put up at Mohammad V University in Rabat, that showed the map of Morocco on one side and the map of India on the other.
The Vice President is on an official visit to Morocco and Tunisia.
It was only after the intervention of Indian officials that the ‘expanded’ Indian map with Pakistan and Afghanistan on it was covered with white tape.
With India keen to tap Morocco as the hub for its economic activities in the resource-rich Africa region, the two countries have jointly launched a trade body to boost bilateral commercial engagements.
The India-Morocco Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IMCCI) was launched by the Vice President Hamid Ansari and Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane.
