Tweeple Are Praising Mohammad Kaif For Supporting Soumya Swaminathan On ‘Hijab’ Controversy

Soumya Swaminathan, a 29-year-old Indian chess player, who holds the title of Woman Grandmaster from India made headlines recently. Soumya was supposed to represent India in Asian Team Chess Championship 2018 to be held in Hamadan, Iran. However, Soumya pulled out of the championship stating a violation of basic human rights by the rigid imposition of religious dress code (hijab) for all players. Read all about it here.

As the star stood her ground, she found support coming in from all corners of the nation. In this list was cricketer Mohammad Kaif, who openly praised Soumya’s courage.

Mohammad Kaif, the 37-year-old Test, and ODI player, has always been active on social media and has never shied away from expressing his opinions. And he wasn’t going to stay mum now. He soon took to his twitter account to extend his full support to Soumya.
