On the occasion of Republic Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent SMS to around 18 lakh personnel of police forces and paramilitary forces.
The SMS said:

The message was sent to the personnel ranging from the Director General rank to the constabulary, working with both state and central governments.
The government’s bulk SMS pool sent this message and it was received from ‘DZ-PMModi’ sender link, according to a police official who received it.

The move was part of PM Modi’s initiative to connect with the security personnel. During the last year’s three-day DGPs conference, PM Modi had expressed his desire for the same.
He had also asked all the state and central police DGPs and other heads of policing organisation to send the list of contact numbers of all policemen to his office before January 26.
