Angered by a morphed photograph, a mob of angry men set a police vehicle on fire on March 19 and damaged two other vehicles parked outside a police station.
The incident took place in Mumbai’s Trombay area, where the mob took on the Mumbai Police in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The violence was triggered by a morphed photograph which had appeared on social media and showed a religious structure in bad light.
While the police arrested the suspect who had posted the morphed picture later in the day, in the early hours of March 19, a group of 20 angry men from another community had torched a police vehicle and pelted stones at two other police vehicles parked outside Trombay police station.
Looking at the violence, the Mumbai Police soon deployed around 100 armed personnel in and around Trombay area so as to prevent the situation from escalating.
The police station is located barely 300 meters away from BARC headquarters.
The whole incident was caught on camera, where the mob could be seen pelting stones at Police vehicles after setting a Jeep on fire.
