Bollywood is abuzz with rappers nowadays, with the western musical trend making its way into Hindi songs and private albums in its full glory.
One of the rappers who shot to instant fame and literally rocked the internet is Om Prakash Mishra. His (in)famous song ‘Bol Na Aunty’, about a boy hell-bent on having sex with an aunty literally turned into the internet anthem of the year. The storm the song raised had many criticize it for its apparent sexist and misogynist content.
Now, the rapper is back in the limelight with another song ‘Vada Pav’. This song features a group of friends seemingly stuck with fancy for the Maharashtrian delicacy. The group of friends are seen dancing to the tune of the rap song, and their moves are as uncanny as they are hilarious and, well, interesting.
However, what surprised many is that this song is devoid of the objectionable and cuss words, which were the main highlights of Mishra’s earlier hit ‘Bol Na Aunty’.
On YouTube Mishra’s ‘Bol Na Aunty’ had about 3,000,000 hits, 30,000 likes and whats more about 60,000 dislikes. However, it had to be taken down because of copyright issues. Although it was severely criticized by many people for its explicit lyrics, the song nevertheless made Mishra an internet sensation of sorts.
