Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, was planning to work in a Spider-Man movie. This news was flashed by Marvel’s former chairman, Stan Lee, at the annual San Diego Comic-Con on June 23.
I’m not sure whether he just wanted to produce it or wanted to play the role. Our conversation never got that far along.
But, Lee believes that MJ wanted to play the role of Spider-Man himself.
Michael Jackson, who died at the age of 50 on June 25, 2009, wanted to buy Marvel publisher jointly with Stan Lee in the late 1990’s but the deal didn’t go through. Stan Lee was surprised to see his interest in movies and in his further meetings was glad to see his involvement and dedication.
Jackson was hoping that Stan Lee would be able to get him the rights to producing movie/s even when Lee clarified that he wouldn’t be able to.
We had met a number of times. In fact, he (Jackson) came to my house once with his son, and I remember my wife took care of his son for about an hour while Michael and I were talking. He was quite a good father. He was very solicitous, and he cared very much for the boy.
It is also noted that in February, he auctioned life-size statues of Batman, Superman and Spider-man from his private collection.
Also, Paris Jackson, MJ’s daughter was in much news in Hollywood. She is working on an interesting project which is over her fathers thrilling life. Latest film joining the world of MJ-themed projects is Sheikh Jackson, an Egyptian movie set in 2009 about an Islamic cleric who was obsessed with the pop star when he was a teenager, then has an identity crisis after the singer’s death.
We all can somehow relate to this, we all were left astray with his absence. He used to imbibe the chaos within him and yet showed a glittering side.
Movie and entertainment business in incomplete without Netflix in todays’ time. A stop-motion animated movie “Bubbles” is going to be released which is based on Jackson’s pet chimpanzee.
