Legendary Hollywood actress, Meryl Streep, has gone to bat for ‘India’s Daughter’ — Leslee Udwin’s documentary on the Nirbhaya case. She’s backing it for the Oscar race.

The BBC documentary features real life interviews of the victim’s parents, the lawyers involved in the case, and also that of one of the accused. The documentary was banned in India, but it created waves overseas.

Meryl Streep says that she is trying to get the documentary in the Oscar race, because she thinks it deserves the highest honour of film industry, that is, the Academy Award.
