#MeTooIndia, yes the movement that is raising its voice against sexual harassment and abuses is gaining momentum in our nation. However, there is also another side of this movement that is quite disturbing. It is the side where women are misusing this cause for serving their personal vendetta. Yes, such is the story of Megha Sharma. This lady accused that she is a victim and was harassed by her apartment guard. The lady also accused the cops of not doing anything in the scenario.
This high drama took place in the lobby of one of the posh apartments in Lokhandwala. Entangled with many avenues, this story is no less than a Bollywood movie. You will feel the same as we unfold the story.
The incident took place on the night of 25 October. Later, she unveiled her ‘plights’ in a long post on Facebook. She explained the incident to be a nightmare for her. Megha Sharma further alleged that she was harassed and police were forcing her to go with them without the presence of a lady constable. Read the post here:

Indeed, it seems like a case of harassment when the policemen are actually stopping her from going back to her apartment. According to Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code, Indian woman have the right to get interrogated in her house in presence of a lady constable or family member. So, she is right in her refusal of going with the police. However, this is just one part of the story that Megha Sharma decided to share.
As soon as the news came out, various users started posting a video of an incident that took place before Megha Sharma had her altercations with the police. In the video, it can be seen that she is abusing the security guard. Here’s the video:
It’s clear who’s assaulting whom in this video @MumbaiPolice. Why have u taken action against guard instead? Is police here to protect all citizens or justice is reserved only for women? Please take action against Megha Sharma. She is abusing people and laws too. This is SICK! pic.twitter.com/C2SbLANMkX

As stated by one of the policemen, she was drunk when she called the guard and asked him to get cigarettes. Upon refusal, she started abusing the guard in her heavily drunken state. Here is what the police officer said:
“The woman, who is a native of Deharadun, lives as a paying guest in the posh housing society of Lokhandwala. She was drinking inside her flat on the 15th floor of the building and asked the security guard Alok via intercom to get a packet of cigarette for her. The security guard however denied. Enraged, she came down and started to argue with Alok.”
Further, Mumbai Police replied on the post from the official handle clarifying the fact that no one was taken to police station. Also, they posted another tweet with the number of PSI from Oshiwara police station, the area where the incident took place. Here are the tweets:
No one was taken to police station. Policeman visited the housing society after receiving a call on Dial 100 about a commotion in the lobby of the concerned housing society.

As per our discussion on phone. We have shared this with Oshiwara police station you can speak to PSI Bamane 26322753, 26323861, 26323862.

Now, there is also another part of the story where Megha Sharma decided to strip her clothes. Apparently, she did it out of frustration and thought that getting rid of her clothes will stop the police from taking her away. That video is also doing its round on the internet. In the video, it can be seen that she is screaming at the top of her voice while threatening the guards and policemen.
Tangled much? We feel the same! However, we also feel that this is a clear misuse of #MeToo that should be dealt with in a strict manner. The police might be at fault as they asked her to come with them without a lady constable but the drama that took place is certainly unveiling her hypocrisy. The netizens also reacted in the same way and this is what they said:
how can a civil society allow her to stay? She is a threat to others living in vincity..what is police doing?

There has to be a legal revolt against the stupid law of not arresting females after sunset. Having such a “privilege” is itself a mockery of the law. In western countries, male police officers can arrest females without any restrictions. West ko copy karna hai to fully karo na
— Siddhesh Shanbhag (@1990kid) October 29, 2018
Stupidity at it’s best. Though the police were available at a later point and they exactly know what happened still filing a case is stupidity, they should counter file a case on her to promote nudity in public place and creating chaos.

Sorry but this video is not a valid proof. We will blind eye this video. We need to ask the girl if she felt sexually harassed or not. We are biased.
(Ps. Not just Mumbai, it’s same everywhere)

The girl was the first to slap the guard.. thrashed him several times & kicked him more than once. Its clearly seen the guard in his defence pushed her out. Cops have a sharper observation than common people. What was @MumbaiPolice ‘s line of action?
— Sanatani (@newagesong) October 29, 2018
Now guard should say #HeToo
— Ajinkya(Anand) (@innocentlyloud) October 29, 2018
@MumbaiPolice is one of the most
Illiterate force. if girls speak in English it will be consider as truth.
I have faced same experience, they take girls side only. we can clearly seen here still our copy + paste constitution made by British has no equal rights for man. #HeToo
— Arvind (@ar_oo9) October 29, 2018
@PMOIndia @HMOIndia @CPMumbaiPolice why no action againt this girl who has first started fight against men and he is saving himself from her. Is this girl above law or still men is only culprit. Why law system so weak.
— Sumit Kapoor (@sumitkapson) October 29, 2018
Law is only meant for women’s in India… Whether or not man does the mistake he will be punished
— Gyani Baba 😴😴 (@suryarajath) October 29, 2018
Nothing will change , Guard will be paved way to jail and she will rewarded with a next entrant in BigBoss. Probably next year
— ritelib (@Indian_thanos) October 29, 2018
#fakefeminism at its peak. Real #MeeToo issues will never come out
Only fake #meetoo moments are in open and is being used for publicity only
And it’s sure #meghasharma will never apologize in public for these moments.
— @proudBhakat (@pradeep_tayal) October 29, 2018
Action against guard bcos if he had bought her cigarettes at 1AM, she wudnt have assaulted him!!
easier 2 take action against guard, maid, driver, dhobi etc..
Under indian law, all are equal. But English speaking are more equal and greater than guard, maid, driver, dhobi etc

She’s high as a cloud. 😂 😂

People need to understand that using the cry of #MeToo on such occasions not only undermines the value of the movement but make it lose its credibility too. What do you think about this whole Megha Sharma fiasco?
