PM Modi’s condemnation of pseudo gau bhakhts created ripples throughout the nation yesterday. Mostly because people hoped his thrashing will control the violent cow vigilantism. Today, another spectacle of human brutality has come to light. Sadly, it seems like his pleas have been ignored and defeated by the innate bloodhound. The radical nature of Hindu nationalism has touched man’s basic instinct which indulge in violence.
A meat trader has been beaten to death by a group of at least 10 men in Ramgarh district near Ranchi. Jharkhand Police informed that the victim, Alimuddin Ansari, was suspected of carrying “cattle meat” in his van. The mob attacked him and set his vehicle ablaze. He later succumbed to the injuries due to shock.
The incident took place in the Giddi area of Ramgarh when Alimuddin Ansari, in his mid-30s, was driving a Maruti van. The Jharkhand Police ADG (Operations) R K Mullik informed The Indian Express,
Some people intercepted his Maruti van, which had a West Bengal registration number, and forced him to get out. They began beating him, accusing him of being involved in trading prohibited meat. The assailants then toppled his van and set it afire.
Giving the case an unexpected turn, the Jharkhand Police claims that the motive behind Ansari’s lynching is not cow meat. They informed about the victim previous criminal record and suspect it to be the reason behind the attack.
Ansari was also chargesheeted in a previous case of kidnapping and murder of a child. The persons identified used to extort money from him. However, there was some dispute over this, which seems to have led to the incident. An FIR naming 10 people is being registered. They have been identified and will be arrested.
It also came to light that the attackers were following Alimuddin Ansari right from the moment he left the house. Few others joined on the way and thrashed him. The security of Ramgarh area has been tightened with heavy deployment to maintain decorum.
