Team Bangladesh is finally facing Team India and our excitement is at its peak. Right now, every Indian wants Team India to defeat Bangladesh, not only because they want the team to reach the finals but because they want the men in blue to take revenge for the insult to the Indian flag.
Remember how a Bangladeshi cricket fan insulted the Indian flag?
He posted a meme showing a tiger draped in the Bangladeshi flag chasing a dog who was draped in the Indian flag. This was absolutely unacceptable and, hence, the meme received a huge backlash on social media platforms.
People not only condemned the act but also asked Team India to take revenge on the field and prove who is a tiger and who is a dog. However, this is not the first time that Bangladeshi fans have done something like this. Earlier, a photoshopped image of Bangladeshi bowler Taskin Ahmed holding MS Dhoni’s head was released on the internet.
Since the time the meme insulting the Indian flag was released, we heard nothing from the Bangladeshi cricket team. Now, Mashrafe Mortaza, the Bangladeshi team’s captain, has finally spoken up on the matter. Expressing unhappiness over the offensive post, the team’s captain has called this match just another game. He doesn’t seem pleased with the post and slammed the derogatory meme saying that the team has no control over such shameless memes and trolls.
Talking about the meme and how it affects the clash between India and Bangladesh, Mortaza said,
These things are not expected and not in the control of players. A match against India is just another game for us and if these cartoons are meant to lift our convictions levels, they just don’t work.
Mortaza also asked team India to play the match without being under any pressure. Considering India’s love for cricket and the country’s population, Mortaza is sure that Team India will feel pressurized on the field.
